Chancery folio, with paper measuring 26.9 x 19.5 cm. Text printed in double columns; 40 lines per col.; col. width: 6.6 cm.; area of text: 20 x 14.1 cm. With initial spaces, guide-letters, and signatures; without foliation and catchwords.
Includes 11 full-page woodcut illustrations (approx. 200 x 140 mm. each): Almighty God seated in glory (a1v); the creation of angels and fall of demons (a8v); the creation of Eve and anatomical man (c4v); the ages of man, a physician and surgeon attending patients (m7v); the earth and the spheres ([long s]7v); occupations of the months (u2v); birds (y7v); fishes ([z with a crossbar]7v); a landscape showing a river and towns, etc. (A1v); trees and plants (F1v); and animals and reptiles (Q2v).
Printer's device (2E7r) is a gryphon, supporting a blank shield; above, a smaller shield bearing the arms of Haarlem suspended by a loop from white interlacing strap-work on a black ground. Device is surrounded by a four-piece border decorated with birds, foliage, and grotesques. Cf. BM 15th cent., IX, p. 101.
