This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, on the Eastern Area Cruise 19, aboard the Rockaway, 1967. Materials include: bird observation sheets, fix data sheets, physical oceanographic data, and bird total data. Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., specimen or band no., and remarks. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, calling, etc.). A list of birds caught aboard the Rockaway listed station number, date, time (local), lat., long., number, and species. Fix data sheets include: date, ship, cruise number, organization, sunrise (time and position), sunset (time and position), miles traveled, time of fix, type of fix, latitude, longitude, and hourly positions (time, latitude, longitude, wind dir., wind sp., wave dir., wave hgt.). Physical oceanographic data includes: date, station, on station time (local), lat., long., secchi depth, surface temp, salinity, and layer depth. Bird count data includes total number of birds by species by area including: species, area number, and total number. Also included is a typed photocopied operational report. Includes a map showing cruise trackline and areas.
