This item consists of a folder of data collected at sea by Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program staff, on the Eastern Area Cruise 14, aboard the USS Jordan, 1967. Materials include: bird observation sheets, fix data sheets, mammal count data, weather observation data, and others types of at-sea data. Fix data sheets include: date, ship, cruise no., sunset, position (lat and long), miles traveled from sunrise to sunset, hourly positions (latitude, longitude, wind dir., wind sp., wave dir., wave hgt.). Bird observation sheets include time, species, #, dir., specimen or band no., and remarks. Remarks include physical descriptions of birds (colors, size, maturity), flock size, and behavior (sitting on water, feeding, calling, etc.). Mammal count data included dates, types of mammals observed (porpoise, whale, sperm, fin, and others), and daily quantity of each observed. Weather data and current data is included with charts and hand-plotted maps. Also included is a typed photocopied preliminary report.
