The journal documents Vernon Orlando Bailey's fieldwork in Grand Canyon, Arizona, May 6 - June 1929. Entries dated and discuss travel details (destinations, times of day), work and interactions with local inhabitants, observations of flora and fauna including birds and mammals, life zones, specimen collecting and methods, weather, photographs taken, daily activities, contents and locations of coyote pellets (droppings?). Entries relating to Grand Canyon are a significant portion of the notebook. They specify trails taken, Park locations visited, a list of phenology of the canyon, specimens collected including snakes; birds observed, plants, descriptions of wildlife headed with type and followed by narrative descriptions including deer.
